Musician Nhat Ngan Passed Away

Musician Nhat Ngan passed away at age 70 on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 10 AM in California. Famous for songs such as "Tôi đưa em sang sông," the talented musician has also written many Vietnamese lyrics to foreign songs as well. Overseas, he was actively working with many production companies such as May Productions, Asia, Thuy Nga, and Hollywood Night. You might remember Nhat Ngan as one of the judges in 2007's Thuy Nga Talent Show. At the end of 2011, he was supposed to judge in Giong Ca Vang from Asia and SBTN, but could not make it at the last minute because he was ill. Nhat Ngan is a talented musician and will forever be remembered through his music. My condolences go out to his family. Source

The film does not go into details the case of Le Chi Vien but focusing instead on portrays of complex relationships, love, and hatred of men in ancient social context. Blood Letter was shot in many places across Vietnam, in beautiful places such as Co Loa (Hanoi), Ninh Binh and Cu Chi (HCMC) with images of water and magnificence mountains.

Giong Ca Vang 2011: An Unfair Show?

One of the contestants from Giong Ca Vang 2011, Bich Thao is going to news media claiming that the show was unfair to her as well as other contestants. In the video interview below she said the show was biased and gave special treatments toward contestants Nguyen Hoang Anh Thu (1st place winner), Thuong Linh and Lindsey Do Tien Dung (3rd place winner). Bich Thao said that Thuong Linh, Anh Thu and Tien Dung have connections. Lindsey Do Tien Dung for example is a TV host at SBTN. Anh Thu is Viet Dung's "student." On the show Thuong Linh was able to sing live with the band while others sang karaoke style. Bich Thao complained that she was not in the finals even though she has good reviews from judges as well as a good voice since she studied in musical school in Vietnam. On the other hand, contestant Lindsey Do Tien Dung was chosen for the finals. Bich Thao said Lindsey's voice was weak and did not deserve to be in the finals over her. In additional to the complaints about biases, she talked about the $100 fee to enter the contest and that money was not refunded to the contestants if they win or not. "It would nice if an email was sent to those who were not chosen so that they would know," she said. Instead those who didn't make it wait and wait not knowing. Bich Thao had to spend money out of her pocket to buy Asia's karaoke DVDs for her performance because singers were forced to sing from pre-recorded music instead of with a live band. Lastly, when she had asked Dang The Luan to speak with the producers to help edit a song for her, the answer was no. So she had to put more out from her pocket to fix a song that Asia could have easily done. Overall, she commented that Dang The Luan was not nice about the whole situation. Bich Thao is not happy with the show as well as the results and believes her voice is better than those who had won. The reason she's speaking to media sources is because she was threaten to keep her mouth shut by Anh Thu's boyfriend Phong. Phong said that Bich Thao no needs to apply for Thuy Nga because she won't make it because Phong works there. Y Phung who is not new to posing in photos bearing her skin is back again with another set. Last time, the singer was in a set of revealing photos showing off her curves and lots more in a very provocative shoot, here. This time around Y Phung is in jeans and uses props. She uses the big tomatoes to cover up her "oranges" and smaller ones as decorative pieces on her body and as a necklace.

This photo shoot was taken moments before Y Phung leaves for the U.S. She was in Vietnam briefly for a ceremony for her father, Minh Phung who passed away in 2008. The singer shared that she is very busy with her schedule for shows in the U.S. therefore it looks like this year she cannot celebrate Christmas and New Year's with her mom and younger brother in Vietnam. V-STAR Ngôi Sao Đêm Nay is an online and television Singing Talent show co-produced by three of the well respected organizations in their fields: Thuy Nga Entertainment, VietFace TV, and Dancesation. For only the second time in its 30 years history, Thuy Nga Entertainment will open its door to welcome people worldwide to participate in this long-awaited and exciting competition. Bang Kieu has been married to Trizzie Phuong Trinh for almost 10 years now. The two have had three boys together, Beckham, Colin and Kenzi (5 months). In a recent chat with the singer, he revealed that he is fully supported of his children if they want to join the entertainment business. His dream is to form a family music band. Bang Kieu’s two older sons show interest when they hear their father sing. Both Beckham and Colin are fluent in Vietnamese.

Bang Kieu and wife Trizzie were recently in Hanoi on December 12, 2011 and stayed for a few days. In Hanoi, the singer met up with fans and was given a portrait. Bang Kieu and Trizzie then traveled to Saigon to visit Trizzie’s side of the family. After that is Phnom Penh, Cambodia on the 18th of December for a show. While the singer travels with wife, his three sons are home in the U.S. with their grandmothers.

Both Bang Kieu and Trizzie Phuong Trinh talked about their dream of creating a live show in Vietnam. If allowed, Bang Kieu wishes to perform for audiences in all regions of Vietnam from North, to Central and South. For every CD that came out, Bang Kieu would always dedicate them to his wife because she has sacrificed her music career to support his. Behind every performance on stage such as the ones with Minh Tuyet, Trizzie Phuong Trinh serves as the director. Therefore, Trizzie shared that she does not get jealous.

At home, Bang Kieu tries to maintain healthy lifestyles with the guide of his wife, Trizzie. He reduces smoking and does not smoke in front of the kids. Bang Kieu also gave up eating “tiết canh” (duck blood soup). But he could not however stop eating dog meat. Source

Don Duong, actor passed away of a heart failure and a brain hemorrhage at age 55 in California on December 7, 2011. The actor appeared in the film "We Were Soldier" with Mel Gibson where he was considered a traitor in Vietnam, forcing him to leave the country in 2003. As a result, Don Duong's family businesses in Vietnam were often 'bothered' by Vietnamese officials. Over in the United States, he has become the topic of gossips including that with Hanh Phuoc, owner of a cosmetic surgery center. The two love birds could be spotted in the front row, VIP section of Thuy Nga Paris by Night's shows. However, the love soon faded when Don Duong allegedly blackmailed some rich old woman in Virginia using sex tapes of the two. This caused lawsuit for the actor and an end to his relationship with Hanh Phuoc. Sadly, after many attempts to gain visa into Vietnam, Don Duong was able to but he died before he could return home.
