Phương Vy Wins Vietnam Idol 2007

For those following in on the Vietnamese Idol this year, the winner was announced on yesterday, October 3rd 2007 in a finale show at Hoa Binh Theatre in Ho Chi Minh City. Winner, Phương Vy received over 53% of the votes and was crowned “Vietnamese Idol Winner 2007.” Many people were however were disappointed with the results.

Vietnam Idol received much controversy because they were thought to be sacrificing fairness of the competition in order to maximize their profit. The show gained about 129,000 US dollars from voting by audiences. Just imagine the number of poverty in the country and the amount of money audiences spent to decide the winner of singing competition. It must have upset a lot of people. Even with all the criticism, the show gained a lot of attention especially from young audiences in the country.
