Hong Nhung's Fiancé

This is a picture of Hong Nhung and Kevin 3 years ago. For those who are curious to what Hong Nhung's soon to be husband looks like, at the top is a picture from three years ago that has been spreading on the Internet for a quite a while now. I wanted to post about it awhile back as well but simple forgotten. Hong Nhung ’s fiancé Kevin is an American who is 3 years younger than she is. Kevin spent a period of time working and living and in Vietnam for quite awhile. The wedding for two was scheduled at the end of this year. They were recently engaged in June of 2007 in what has been called a “Hollywood” style ceremony. What are you thoughts?

Back To School!

A picture I took on my first day back. It is from one of the buildings on campus. Hey everyone, since school started I wasn’t able to do much updating so I hope you understand. School is so blah! There are so much reading and little assignments that drive me crazy. One thing good though or two is that my classes are very interesting and my teachers are very nice, caring and love what they do that makes me stay away in class and also inspired me to learn. However, I’m still not getting used to waking up early and having so much work. Maybe later on I will, but for now I’m going to rant! HAHA. For those who are in school, how do you feel? You like your classes and teachers so far? P.S. Although I might not post regularly, when I have time and if there are interesting things, I will post a bunch! So watch out! Take care.

Beside his great voice, he looks very good as well. He captured my attention the first time I saw him. He has this sultry look in his eyes that holds a lot of wonders. His voice is not too soft but a bit husky and warming. I like Lam Nhat Tien as an artist and he is definitely one of favorites. Recently there are lots of go

"Ta Muốn Cùng Em Say" Nguyen Khang

vinashowbiz I found this advertisement for Nguyen Khang ’s new CD out? I’m not sure. The poster looks really good though except that Nguyen Khang doesn’t. If you have heard about this and are planning to go see, tell me about afterward. Hehe. Oh, by the way it seems like Nguyen Hong Nhung is everywhere nowaday...

I am actually interested in listening to it after hearing a few of the songs and they sounded pretty good. Another interesting thing are the people featured on the CD like Linda Chou who was in Van Son 36 in Taiwan singing with Andy Quach . I wonder who Lyda and K-lien are. Besides that there are three songs in the CD, Everytime , Sway and She Will Be Loved that I hope won’t become a bad rendition. I’m surprise though that the CD is releasing under Thuy Nga instead of Van Son Entertainment. Another intere

Cat Tien vs. Vy Nguyen

http://www.cattienmusic.com/ http://www.myspace.com/vymusic Voice: As for singing, both are good to me. Vy has a stronger voice and sounds better in English. Cat Tien has an advantage because she can sing fluently in Vietnamese and English. It seems like Vy’s voice is clear while Cat Tien has depth and texture. Looks: Cat Tien is more feminine and she has this cute look to her. The only criticize I heard about Cat Tien was that she has a “parrot” nose. As for Vy, she’s tougher in appearance and isn’t very photogenic. Vy looks good at certain angles and with certain clothes and makeup. Dance: Seems like Vy got the upper hand here, but I don’t think dancing matters in the production videos. Not many people notice about it or care to discuss or at least I don’t see it around forum much. This happens because most of the singers cannot dance and got bad choreography. YOUR THOUGHTS: These are just my opinions; I would like to hear yours. Who do you prefer? And what are your reasons. Plus

Nhu Quynh Sues Her Baby's Father!

Credit picture to Nhu Quynh's Starlight Apparently the latest gossip, which I find hard to believe and super funny, involves Nhu Quynh once again. She is such a hot top nowadays. Anyway, the rumors said that Nhu Quynh plans to sue her baby’s father who is a well know doctor in Orange County for causing her to be pregnant at the wrong time, which affected her career as a singer. Nhu Quynh wants 2 million in return. People predicted that the baby’s father would be willing to pay Nhu Quynh the money in order to protect his reputation and stop the incident from affecting his business. First of all this story is so funny and hard to believe. Why would Nhu Quynh wants to sue her baby’s father when she announced that she wanted to be a mother and was so happy about her pregnancy? Secondly, it is just ridiculous to sue since he is like her husband now; if it is true they had a small wedding ceremony. Because sources suggested that the wedding ceremony did not take place and Nhu Quyn

U.S. Singers Cannot Compete with VN Singers!

Many people criticized productions in the U.S. for lip-syncing instead of singing live. However some feel that when they pay to go see a show, they want the best sound quality for instant so they don’t mind a pre-recorded show. However the case here is more than just having live performances. It is the argument that many of today’s professional singers in the U.S. cannot compete with singers in Vietnam simply because they cannot sing live. Recently many singers in the U.S. are going to Vietnam to do shows, and at first the audiences in Vietnam are excited to go see and hear a singer from overseas but after the first show, no more. Only a few veteran singers were able to continue shows after shows. For others, the show’s creators often time have to add in Vietnam singers so that people would attend the show. Some singers from America even requested to have play recordings- lip-syncing basically and it was rejected totally because according to the people in Vietnam it’s not real, not liv

A Young Mỹ Tâm

http://www.mytam.info/ This is a picture of singer Mỹ Tâm when she was young. She looks a bit like she does today. The below picture is with her with father at the age of eight. If you don’t know My Tam, she is a well-known singer in Vietnam. Pretty and talented is what most people would say of her. I think she is very pretty in her youth pictures. If you’re a fan of My Tam, what are your thoughts on the photos and or My Tam as a singer? For others, where do you stand? Like or dislike or simple don’t care.

Too Little Too Late

I came across this music video of Trish Thuy Trang , “Too Little Too Late” on You Tube and I thought it would be interesting to post about it. I was kind of excited to see the video hoping for something, but there was nothing. Basically a white background screen with Trish and a boring song. I’m not a fan of Trish; don’t really like her or dislike her either. Just seeing her video made me wish that there were more music videos of Vietnamese singers to enjoy. Well, fans of Trish (there are lots out there) enjoy the video. P.S. there are many others of her video on You Tube, since she had a MTV DVD out titled “ Ever After .”

Paris By Night 89: Live in Korea

Thuy Nga Paris By Night 89 live in Seoul, Korea will be out August 30, 2007. This is a first time that Thuy Nga traveled outside the U.S. to do a live show together with a traveling tour package so it is going to be something to look forward to. This video will be a bigger return for many contestants from Paris By Night Talent Show 2007 . And it seems to be the last taping for Nhu Quynh with Thuy Nga. A while back in a poll about Paris By Night in Korea , a total of 55% of the people said they were excited to see the show. Well, how has your feeling changed or still remain the same? For those who saw the show live, please comment on the experience. MC: Nguyễn Ngọc Ngạn & Nguyễn Cao Kỳ Duyên 01. Đừng Hứa Với Em... (Huỳnh Nhật Tân) MINH TUYẾT, TYPHOON (Rapper), & DANCERS 02. Let’s Compete – Upcoming Shows

Credit image to http://www.aseanrooms.com/ I love it when the productions compete. I am talking about Asia , Paris By Night and Van Son . When one show is doing a theme, the other does a similar or the opposite or so it seems. Van Son went to Korea , so did Thuy Nga. And after Thuy Nga did their show in Korea that included a traveling package, Van Son follows the footsteps by doing the same except in Cambodia. I am not saying which production is copying one another but I think its strictly business and I find it to be exciting. I mean they are working hard of us, the audience. When businesses compete, it is a good for thing the general public. I can’t wait to see all of the upcoming shows. One of my most anticipating show is from Van Son, the two shows in Cambodia and Singapore . Van Son is also doing one on Mothers . But I’m more excited to see the portrait for Vietnamese women from Thuy Nga. Also I can’t wait to see Paris By Night in Korea, hope it doesn’t suck. Once again I ask for

Spirits – Oan Hồn

“Set in modern day Vietnam, “SPIRITS” is a fascinating introduction into the spiritual beliefs and mysteries of a culture rarely explored in cinema. In a series of three interlocking stories, we learn of the fate of a young writer named Loc (Tuan Cuong). In the first episode, "The Visitor", Loc comes to reside in a remote bungalow on the edge of a sugar cane field. It initially seems abandoned, until he meets its sole occupant, a lovely young woman named Hoa (Kathy Nguyen). She is shy and withdrawn and has touch of sadness to her; but her selfless consideration—matched by Loc’s sweet openness to her—sows the seeds of love between them. However, her story is still a mystery to him. She hides a dark secret, one that will drive Loc to the edge of madness. In the second episode, “Only Child", Loc is still inhabiting the old house. He is in the care of a beautiful young psychiatry student named Linh (Kathleen Luong). In him she sees not a madman but a man of talent driv

Lam Truong Will Represent Vietnam At an Asian Concert

picture taken from Lam Truong's official website "Vietnamese singer Lam Truong will perform alongside other well-known Asian singers at the 2007 Asia Song Festival to be held at Seoul stadium in the Republic of Korea on September 22. According to organisers, tickets for the festival, which is considered one of the greatest musical events of the year on the continent, can be downloaded free from the festival’s official website that will be launched some time this September. Lam Truong is the only singer from Vietnam that will be present at the event alongside such names as Lee Hyori , Super Junior and SG Wannabe from the Republic of Korea; famous boy band F4 and Cheung Amei from Taiwan; as well as others from China, Hong Kong and Thailand. According to Sin Hyeon-taek, Chairman of the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, the purpose of the event is to help contribute to Asian cultural exchanges. It did a bit , but I still like her singing I don't know what to think No. I still like Nhu Quynh no matter what No... but I question her character now I never did like or dislike Nhu Quynh I don't care about her    pollcode.com free polls Last Poll: Which Production Should Anh Minh Join?

Paris By Night 88 Review

I finally finished watching Paris By Night 88: Lam Phuong- Duong Ve Que Huong today, so I thought I post up my comments while it is still fresh in my mind. Overall the show was successful for Thuy Nga. They really did try many new things including having the MCs moved around and interacted with audiences, (even though this one isn’t that new), and trying to sing LIVE. I was quite touched watching the videos about Lam Phuong and even cried on the last song Mot Minh by Huong Giang. It was nice to see Nguyen Ngoc Ngan . As for Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen she seemed to have lost weight and was looking great. One thing though, it seems that Thuy Nga is pairing up more people now and doing group songs more? I hope it is only for this theme because they want to get to most of songs by Lam Phuong. I would hate it if they start to be like Asia. Also there seems to not be many singers in this PBN 88 because many people came back to sing numerous of time? The opening song was very colorful and was r

Thien Kim Has a New Face?

The Internet circulated that singer Thien Kim had her face done recently, and it turned out bad. The photos above we taken from Thien Kim’s website showing her face to be different than usual and rather flat. It is nothing new that Vietnamese singers have any kind of surgery done to enhance their beauty. If you remember when Minh Tuyet first appeared on Tinh Production , she was a lot different than what she looks today. In the case of Minh Tuyet, she turned out good. Credit pics to Trina's myspace However not all surgery creates miracle. Recently singer Trina Bao Tran was showed with a new nose and possibly lip injection that made her face less than pretty. It was a case of cheap nose job as others may say. As for Thien Kim, she is good looking, so I don’t think she needs anything done. If she did indeed had surgery, which resulted in the bad photos seen above then I am deeply sad for her.

Are Singers Paying Their Way to Fame?

We all know that there is prices to pay for fame and fortune and especially in such an entertainment industry anything can happen for one to reach to the top. However are there some Vietnamese singers paying production companies to be on their taping show? According to insider sources, this seems to be the case and Truong Vu was said to pay Thuy Nga a couple thousands to be on the show when he was not at all popular. Truong Vu as most know is a very talented and well-known singer who appears on almost all big and small productions. If he indeed paid his way to fame, he probably made up for it by now. If such a big production as Thuy Nga would do such a thing that would be very scandalous. And no one forgot the story that involved Thuy Nga’s ex singer Thien Kim . Thuy Nga worked hard from the old days to become today’s number Vietnamese music production and of course along the way there must be some business tricks here and there. Nevertheless this is only mere circulation without muc

After being successful as a contestant on Paris By Night Talent Show 2007 , Trinh Lam went to release his CD album featuring the famous single Tai Sao? August 9, 2007. The song was highly known when Trinh Lam wrote and sung it live at the Thuy Nga’s talent show. Even though he did not win the title, he won the judges’ award and received a contract with Thuy Nga. It seems that Trinh Lam’s success in the music biz will continue to rise. Other contestants also made it big such as Huong Giang, Mai Tien Dung, and Quynh Vi. It is a good start for the Vietnamese music industry when we are getting new faces and new talents. Show your support for Trinh Lam by purchasing his CD. Also I'm sur

Sữa Ong Chúa- A Miracle Product or Not?

Credit image to Ky Duyen's House No, this is not an advertisement for the product. But I find this to be very interesting. Ever since I saw Ky Duyen’s advertisement for Sua Ong Chua AKA Royal Jelly , people around me are running to buy it. So what is this thing, what does it do? This product claims to help you sleep better, get better skin that is baby soft; even out your skin pigment, lost weight, regulate your digestive system, good for your liver, fight aging, and lots more good stuff for your health and beauty. Their target audiences are women who want to look and feel better by being younger and have the “baby” skin. I don’t know how much of this stuff is true or have been proven but it all seems too good to be true. My aunt went to buy this product at a Vietnamese pharmacy and found out that there are many brands and the one Ky Duyen advertised for is only one of them. Everyone is taking interest in creating “Sua Ong Chua.” My aunt used the product and then stopped long

Tommy Ngo's "LOVE" Belt Caused Protesting at Santa Ana

Picture from Quí Nguyễn/CTV Người Việt Almost 100 people came to protest singer Tommy Ngo outside of the Orange County Performing Arts Pavilion in Santa Ana on Sunday July 29, 2007 after Tommy Ngo was spotted wearing a red belt with the word LOVE and a star in the center of the "O" on the poster cover of " Nhung Tieng Hat va Nu Cuoi 5." According to some people, it is a resembling of the red flag with a yellow star of communists in Vietnam. One of the people there, Phuc Nguyen voiced out about the matter by criticizing Tommy Ngo for not knowing better of how sensitive the Vietnamese community is with communists. Also she said that Tommy Ngo’s wife well known singer Lynda Trang Dai was already in the news for doing shows in Vietnam. Other people who came to see the show ended up leaving after seeing the big protesting scene. Some tried to return their tickets but was refused. Many people felt threatened by the protestants, and it showed when they came out from

Two people I think for copyrights issue sued Thuy Nga and also the design of CD was called out for copying Beyonce’s B Day CD . So much attention to the CD, it must be a sold out! Personally I like Minh Tuyet and I think she is a good artist with a really good voice. I believe that part of the sued for copyrights were partly because Thuy Nga is doing so well in the biz so there is always going to be some small rocks in the road. As for the design thing, who cares! I hope her new CD does well, and the scandals are only

Asia 55 Thoughts

I’m always late on these things; it takes me awhile to finish it watching. This is not a review on Asia 55: 75 Nam Am Nhac Vietnam 2 , Hat Voi Than Tuong though because I have not seen all of the show, but I want to quickly comment on it. I didn’t plan to watch any of Asia’s videos because as I stated in my earlier post to why I don’t watch Asia anymore... it sucks basically. However, my sister invited me to watch it with her and so I did hoping that it wouldn’t be so bad. In Asia 55, although the stories on the icons of Vietnamese music was interesting to watch and to know, I could not stay any longer to watch. After I saw like up to number 12 out of 31 performances I left. Asia didn’t change a bit. The opening act was bad because Da Nhat Yen and Don Ho was not a good pairing and doing a medley in the first act singing “ Ghe Ben Saigon ” was weak of an opening. I really dislike Asia for pairing so many people together, redoing old songs and hiring new MCs all the time. It se

Vietnamese Movies

Credit image to VASSF There are many good Vietnamese singers, but when it comes to movies there are only a few. This is actual truth, and many Vietnamese know that. I’m talking about Vietnam movies made in Vietnam in general that were really horrible. Maybe there were good ones like really way back like Trà Hoa Nữ or something but around the 1990s the movies were really bad. The storyline was a cliché and the casting was the same people over and over again because there were few actors back then. You might remember Lý Hùng and Việt Trinh who were like the two main people cast in movies as lovers and endure hardship to be together. And mostly the girl’s family is poor and the guy gets involved with a gang. Yeah, that was Vietnamese movies. However there were some movies I like, like the one starring Lý Hùng and Kim Khánh (who is a beauty queen, model and singer), “ Đoạn Cuối Ở Bangkok ,” “ Áo Gió Bụi Hồng ” and “ Cô Người Mẩu Của Tôi ”. There were more but I cannot recall at the

Maybe we all have one those down days or something. I wanted to do some posts for the blog but recently I feel so lazy and out of place. It is like I have no motivations to do anything. I hope you guys are doing much better than I am today. Just so you know, school is around the corner for me and I am not at all excited or happy about it. Maybe I’m just not a school person. Yeah… Also when school kicks in, I won't be able to post as much either. Sucks. Quang Dung & Jennifer Pham – Parents To Be?

Rumors circulated and news all over Vietnam reported that beauty queen Jennifer Pham is two months pregnant and so singer Quang Dung will be a daddy soon. Quang Dung and Jennifer Pham had their engagement ceremony in July 25, 2007 at Sofitel Plaza in Vietnam. And the wedding is still undergoing for September 21, 2007 in America. The two has been dubbed the perfect pair since Quang Dung is a successful and talented singer while Jennifer Pham the beautiful pageant winner. With a lot of things going their way, Jennifer Pham and Quang Dung will be busy for the rest of the year. I want to say good luck to the two and hopefully their love will be long lasting to surpass the test of time.
