speaking from experience... i've a faithful sponsor with CCF for almost two decades... last year i've decided maybe it's time i sponsor a child from vn... so i did... two months later i received a letter from the their office in ha noi vn run by ha noi people telling me what they did with the 100 dollars gift i sent to my sponsor child... the money was for my child to do as she pleases... but the group from ha noi take all the money from sponsoror like myself and put in a pot for festival planning for the children... i was furious when i got that letter... the letter went into details on what they did with the money pot... basically... they rent instruments... people to play instrument... they bought sweets and toys for the children... in american... yeah... that's about right... but in a third world country like vn... where some areas don't have clean water or food... they went and bought entertainment for the kids... basically... for every 100dollars they spent 10dollars on those stuff and pocketed the rest... i love children and want to help them... but my money didn't come a money tree where i go pick every day... i work hard... and share what's left over/what i can afford... but i will never make another mistake by helping viet nam... u're just fooling yourself if u think u make a different... to make that kind of change... it takes years... not one trip with a camera and some money... your money ends up feeding the corrupt people there instead...
back to shayla... child... go and help your community first... there are so many broken homes with children ended up victims... yes... go around where u live and take a better look... help them...start with them... then work your way out into other worlds... i know your heart is in the right place... but don't blindly support corruptions... that's all...
