Ho Hoang Yen, a New Face From Asia

Hồ Hoàng Yến first appeared in Asia 58, Lá Thư Từ Chiến Trường, with a rather refreshing outfit revealing not just an attractive body and a pretty face, but a good voice. She sang "Ðêm Cuối Cùng" together with Quốc Khanh in a medley. She has a deep-set voice, which added to her presentation. Within the first appearance, Hồ Hoàng Yến was able to gain quite a lot of attention from audiences.

Hồ Hoàng Yến is her real name; she was born in Saigon, Vietnam at the time the Vietnam War ended (around 1975, she would be about 33). Her father passed while trying to escape the border, leaving her with only a mother and no siblings. At young age, Hồ Hoàng Yến was already into singing and soon become a professional singer, singing first in Saigon.

In 2001, she moved to the United States, residing in San Jose, California, and then to Pennsylvania to live for a while. In 2005 Hồ Hoàng Yến began her singing career when she moved back to California and resided in Little Saigon. Singing is her ultimate passion, she can give up anything, but not singing. Hồ Hoàng Yến will continue to appear in the upcoming Asia, Bốn Mùa 2: Một Thời Để Nhớ” on July 5th, 2008 at La Mirada, Orange County, California. What's a refreshing voice and a classy performance, not even mention a beautiful face and body. Singers, specially female singers do need attractive appearance. This lady will go a long way because she has both. I suggest that she needs to stay selective on her songs to be unique and classy. Do not give in for peer pressure just because...She deserves to stand on her own and not mixed in with the mass. People will notice. I'll give her nine and a half...

Ho Hoang Yen has a very good voice but, she needs to be able to put a little more emotion and presence in her voice since it is quite neutral most of the time. I am not going to comment on her body since it is not relevant to music.

She's cute. She is a real singer. But, she seems like a downer in most of her songs. Plus, she seems to be a tall girl but she slouch when she stand and walk. Still, she's a pretty girl, but in my opinion, her shoulders are a bit too wide.

Life isn't fair, is it?

For someone as beautiful & graceful as HHY who posseses such a sedutive singing voice and a sensuous body to go along with it; life is not fair!
But as much as many of us who adore her, she maintains such a modest attitude and a humble appearance.
I have watched many Vietnamese singers's performance, but I must admit that Yen has such a lasting impressions.
It seems as though only on stage and through songs, she has lived and expressed her inner emotions as real as her real private life?
Life and fantasy and dreams seem to be blent together for her...
At the end though, I wish you find your hapiness and meaning in life, but in the meantime, thank you for being you : who you are!

A fan from NYC/CT Area.

I must admit her seductive figure as well as her voice has won me over. I have never made any comments toward any singers be it American, Viet or any other ethnics singers but I will break the rule just only for HHY. There's something about her look and her presentation that really grab my attention. Deep within her soulful voice and a no-smile pretty face presents great emotion required to help a song be successful. I really think this is what make her really sexy and standout from the crowd. BTW for the comments that said she doesn't have to take NL's road really makes no sense to me at all. As a matter of fact, her smile-less attitude tells me that she could careless about winning the audiences' attention by selling her attractiveness or whatever but rather she sings just because she loves to sing.

I has been a long time that I really reconsidered to listen the vietnamese music since I heard Ho Hoang Yen in Bao Tinh song at my friend's house. Her professional voice was so attractive, strong and meaningful. Not like most of vietnamese singers, they just screaming, not singing. I bougth every released CDs and DVD and enjoy every where I go, at work, at home,.........Thanks for your voice, which motivated me back into vietnamese songs. Kepp up and keep your voice the same.

Found her not long ago. My first thought was that she will be passing by after a few months and i was wrong. The more i listen to her the more i like it. She is not over acting like some others don't want to mention here; like the type of musics she had selected; and was surprised with the volume of her songs. Keep it up you are on the right track.
