Donna Uyên Ngọc Võ from California, U.S., was crowned Miss Vietnam Global 2008 . The show took place July 5th, 2008 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. 1st runner up went to Diana Yến Xuân Trương , and the second runner up went to Vũ Nguyễn Hà Anh . Despite of all the scandals, Miss Vietnam Global continues to take place, one show after another, feeding on to the frenzy of girls worldwide and audiences who tune in to see how the drama unfold. What’s interesting is that not every girl gets a fair shot at the crown. Within the hopeful pack of contestants, are models, experienced girls within the showbiz, girls with connections, etc. What will become of next year?

With the next Miss Vietnam Global scheduled for July 5, 2008, the show continues to get free press. After former Miss Vietnam Global winner Linda Vi Trâm Nguyễn speaks that the show itself is a scam , no surprise here. While questions about the show’s validity, and integrity continue to be talk about, Vietnamese girls everywhere dive into this pit hole without any hesitation, for moments of fame, money, and false hope. And the scandal continues, when documents leak on the Internet forums about the possible “secret” marriage of Linda Vi Trâm Nguyễn, which would be against the rules of Miss Vietnam Global that states contestants should not have any current, or previous marriage. Could this be a counter attack against Linda Vi Trâm Nguyễn to say that her title was unrightfully in the first place, so she doesn’t deserve the prize money? This news is not good for both parties, and especially is bad for Miss Vietnam Global organization, since the show it...

If you read my post, Vietnamese beauty pageants in the U.S. , I bought up the same questions to why these shows exist and what are the girls are really competing for. Apparently MVG is scam, according the former Miss Vietnam Global Linda Vi Trâm Nguyễn who recently spoke out that the organization owns her $30,000 of prize money. The show promised its winner a grand prize of $50,000, however the former beauty queen only received $20,000. And so she is speaking out while also warning others who plan to enter the contest, to be aware. When Miss Vietnam Global ended in 2006, crowning Linda Vi Trâm Nguyễn as the winner, there were many speculators to the reason she took home the title. Many believed that Linda tried numerous time entering many pageants, so much that the judges were tired of her and so they let her win. Funny as it seems. However, friends and fans of Linda stood by saying that she had a goal in mind and she was determined instead of what others said...

Jennifer Le is the recent winner after competing against 39 other contestants who were of all Vietnamese coming from different parts of the world. Jennifer Le is a 17 year old from Washington State taking home the beauty queen title of Miss Vietnam Global 2007 . The show took place in Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas on June 30th 2007 with over 2,000 viewers coming from all around the world. Other winners included Lisa My Thu Ma , 18 who was first runner up; Thu Van Cao Nguyen , 21 was 2nd runner up; Mincy Chau Nguyen , 23, was the third runner up and finally Yen Le , 22, took the fourth runner up title. And also other titles were given such as Miss Congeniality, Miss Ao Dai and Miss Photogenic.
